"यह रसोई गैस कनेक्शन में मदद मिलेगी न केवल प्रत्येक परिवार के लिए लागत को कम करने, लेकिन यह भी बेहतर महिलाओं के स्वास्थ्य में मदद मिलेगी," मोदी ने प्रधानमंत्री उज्ज्वला योजना के शुभारंभ के अवसर पर कहा। "सब्सिडी स्थानांतरण परिवार की महिला मुखिया की जन धन खाते में जगह ले जाएगा," उन्होंने कहा।

PM Narendra Modi launches 'Gram Uday se Bharat Uday Abhiyan'
125th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched the Gram Uday se Bharat Uday Abhiyan, from Dr Ambedkar's birth place Mhow in Madhya Pradesh.
It is a program that will last till 24th April 2016, which is Panchayati Raj day, with the aim of building social harmony.
The eleven day campaign will also focus on generating nationwide efforts on promoting rural development and fostering farmers' progress.
During the campaign, discussions on issues pertaining to rural development, improving farmer's income, SC and ST welfare and social harmony will be held on different platforms.
Prime Minister Modi said that Babasaheb Ambedkar fought against injustice in society and his fight was for equality and respect.
He said that Babasaheb was deeply committed to the development of the downtrodden and marginalised section of the society.
Prime Minister Modi said that India's sustainable development is possible only if we develop our villages.

According to census data, the child sex Ratio (0-6 years) in India was 927 girls per 1,000 boys in 2001, which dropped drastically to 918 girls for every 1,000 boys in 2011. A 2012 UNICEF report has ranked India 41st among 195 countries.
The Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme has been introduced in October, 2014 to address the issue declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR). This is being implemented through a national campaign and focussed multi sectoral action in 100 selected districts low in CSR, covering all States and UTs. The 100 districts have been identified on the basis of low Child Sex Ratio as per Census 2011 covering all States/UTs as a pilot with at least one district in each state. [8] The three criteria for selection of districts namely are:-
1.Districts below the national average (87 districts/23 states); 2.Districts above national average but shown declining trend (8 districts/8 states) 3.Districts above national average and shown increasing trend (5 districts/5 states- selected so that these CSR levels can be maintained and other districts can emulate and learn from their experiences).

Strategies:-
- Implement a sustained Social Mobilization and Communication Campaign to create equal value for the girl child & promote her education.
- Place the issue of decline in CSR/SRB in public discourse, improvement of which would be a indicator for good governance.
- Focus on Gender Critical Districts and Cities low on CSR for intensive & integrated action.
- Mobilize & Train Panchayati Raj Institutions/Urban local bodies/ Grassroot workers as catalysts for social change, in partnership with local community/women’s/youth groups.
- Ensure service delivery structures/schemes & programmes are sufficiently responsive to issues of gender and children’s rights.
- Enable Inter-sectoral and inter-institutional convergence at District/Block/Grassroot levels.
Kollam temple fire: 110 dead; PM Modi visits site
Over 350 reportedly injured. The explosion was caused when the storehouse of the fireworks materials caught fire.
At least 110 persons were killed and over 350 injured after a fire broke out at the Paravur Puttingal Devi temple around 3:30 a.m on Sunday. The fireworks ceremony was held as part of the annual festival of the temple, near Kollam.
Over 100 victims are admitted to the district hospital in Kollam. Many of the injured died before they could reach a hospital. Victims were also admitted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital and at various private hospitals in Kollam.
The explosion was caused when the storehouse of the fireworks materials caught fire. In the impact of the explosion, the office building of the Travancore Devaswom Board near the storehouse was blown off.
Sparks which flew from the fireworks on display landed on the storehouse and caused the explosion, preliminary reports say. There is a district level ban on pyrotechnics at temples but these are held on the basis of temporary permits annually. Such permits are given on religious tradition grounds.
